Lawmakers Look for Budget Fix

Oklahoma House

Oklahoma House leaders are gathering agency input on the new state budget. Appropriations Chair Earl Sears of Bartlesville says they are looking for ways to fill the $611.3 million budget shortfall.

Budget cuts will NOT be across the board. Sears wants to spare, as much as possible, the big state agencies like education, transportation and public safety. He calls the agencies "core government services".

Sears wants to wrap up the budget quickly, so agencies will know what is ahead.
