OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma City man is hospitalized after being shot in the leg by a police officer on the city's southwest side.

Police say 26-year-old Jesse Wayne Archer was wounded early Monday by Officer Gregory Franklin after walking out of a home and making a threatening move toward police who had responded to a domestic disturbance call.

Capt. Paco Balderrama says officers were told that Archer was intoxicated and damaging the house and that when officers arrived they hear a gunshot inside the home.

Balderrama says Archer came out of the house and made an undisclosed threatening move and was shot, then re-entered the house before coming back outside and surrendering.

Franklin is on paid leave pending an investigation into the shooting.
