TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Police in Tulsa say a man wanted in the shooting death of his wife has been found in east Tulsa with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Sergeant Dave Walker says Derrick Todd was found Wednesday afternoon inside his car in a Wal-Mart parking lot and was taken to a hospital in life-threatening condition.
Walker says Todd had sent text messages to acquaintances about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday indicating he had shot his wife. Those receiving the text included an off-duty Tulsa police officer and a retired Tulsa officer.
Police responded to Todd's east Tulsa home where Walker says Tonia Walker was found shot to death.
Walker said Tonia Walker was shot with a .40 caliber handgun and that a .40 caliber handgun was found inside Derrick Todd's car.
