Two Arrested for Attempted Contraband Drop at Oklahoma Prison

Department of Corrections

STRINGTOWN, Okla. (AP) — Two people are in custody after being accused of trying to leave duffel bags of cellphones, synthetic marijuana, tobacco and other contraband outside an Oklahoma prison.

The Department of Corrections says 32-year-old Jessie Palone and 31-year-old Ramona Palone were arrested outside the Mack Alford Correctional Center in Stringtown. Atoka County jail records do not show whether the two have an attorney.

Prison officials said Monday a correctional officer on his way to work noticed a vehicle at a construction site nearby. The officer saw a man get out with two large duffel bags and walk into the woods.

Atoka County authorities apprehended the suspects and recovered the duffel bags. Among other things, the bags contained 34 cellphones, 25 phone chargers, four packages of synthetic marijuana and six pounds of tobacco.
