A monument dedicated to Leon Russell was dedicated earlier this month in Tulsa, Oklahoma, nearly two years after his death.
The surprise was that Russell had been interred in it just hours before the dedication. Steve Todoroff, who led the efforts to create the monument, picked up Russell's remains from his family.
The remains had been kept at a funeral home in Sarasota, Florida. The monument shows Russell wearing a hat and sitting back in a chair with a piano keyboard. Elton John was among the donors to the monument fund.L
