More Chickens in Fewer Hen Houses

The number of poultry operators in northeast Oklahoma is dropping but the farms are raising more birds per facility. That's according to public records provided to the Tulsa World, which requested 20 years of data on poultry operations.

Residents in the Illinois River watershed have complained for years of pollution from expanded poultry operation waste in northeastern Oklahoma, and late last year, Arkansas and Oklahoma signed an agreement to study ways to improve water quality.
