Appliance maker Whirlpool has temporarily closed its Tulsa plant because of a COVID-19 outbreak.
About 1,700 people work there. The company declined to provide details, like how many employees have been infected, but they plan to reopen the facility by early next week.
In a statement, a Whirlpool spokesman said they had increased cleaning following federal guidelines, allowed for physical distancing on production lines and checked employee temperatures.
"The health and safety of our employees and the community are our top priority. We can’t comment on individual employee situations, but every action we take at the plant is for the health and safety of our people," the statement said.
Employees who tested positive and people they’ve been in contact with have been quarantined.
