Tulsa, Oklahoma – On this edition of The Best of StudioTulsa, we're listening back to a late-April broadcast, when we spoke with Diane Ravitch about her provocative and engaging book, "The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education." A longtime pedagogical scholar and historian, Ravitch served as Assistant Secretary of Education under President George H.W. Bush --- but, after leaving government service in early 1993, Ravitch came to reject many of the educational goals and programs (e.g., "No Child Left Behind") that had been supported by that Republican administration (and by others). Ravitch, in fact, originally appeared on StudioTulsa about six weeks after publishing an op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal entitled, "Why I Changed My Mind About School Reform."
