Tulsa, OK – Police investigating possible bomb

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa police say a suspicious device discovered at a Jewish community center was a clock, not a bomb.

Officers were notified about 5 p.m. Tuesday that an employee had heard a loud ticking noise in a trash can at the Charles Schusterman Jewish Community Center. He placed the receptacle outside and called police.

Capt. Ryan Perkins says the bomb squad dispatched a robot to investigate the nature of the ticking sound and found an old alarm clock inside the trash can.

Perkins says center employees were checking for anything suspicious after receiving a bomb threat earlier in the day.

Perkins says residents of a retirement center and children attending a day-care center and a summer camp were evacuated.

Retirement center residents were allowed to return a few hours later.
