Oklahoma City, OK – AG says EPA finding could hurt economy
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson says an Environmental Protection Agency finding could cripple economic development in the state.
Edmondson and the attorneys general in 11 other states are challenging an EPA endangerment finding that sets in motion the regulation of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide. They want to intervene in a case pending before the District of Columbia U.S. Court of Appeals.
Edmondson, a Democratic candidate for governor, said Thursday he is concerned the finding will lead to severe regulations that businesses could not afford to comply with. It could require big factories as well as office buildings, hospitals and churches to get permits.
The attorney general says the finding could hinder the construction of new facilities and the expansion of existing ones.
