Oklahoma City – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Lottery officials say scratcher games will generate about $3 million more than expected for education this fiscal year.
Executive Director Jim Scroggins told Oklahoma Lottery Commission officials Tuesday that the latest estimates show the lottery will see about $198.5 million in revenue for fiscal year 2010. Based on those figures, about $69.7 million will be available for higher and common education in Oklahoma.
Original estimates indicated gaming revenue would reach $190.6 million, with about $66.7 million going to education.
Most scratchers, small cards that players scratch off to reveal whether they won a prize, sell for $1 or $2.
Scroggins says those games are estimated to raise about $87 million for the current fiscal year, $14.4 million more than expected.
