OK-POP Gets Land

Bob Blackburn

By KWGS News

Tulsa, OK – The Oklahoma Historical Society has accepted donated land from the Bank of Oklahoma for the new proposed OKPOP museum. The Historical Society's Director Bob Blackburn says the popular culture museum would have a huge economic impact on Tulsa.

The Society wants the state to agree to a 40-million dollar bond issue to pay for the museum. Blackburn says it is structured in such a way that the Society would not need the cash for several years.

The block is along Archer, just north of the Jazz Hall of Fame. Oklahoma Historical Society Director Bob Blackburn made the announcement at the State Capitol.

Blackburn says the museum would rival the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and would focus on Oklahoma's contributions to popular culture.
