Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. appeal court upholds life sentence in murder

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A state appeals court has upheld the life prison sentence received by a man convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a pizza delivery driver.

The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals handed down the decision Friday in the case of 20-year-old Zonta West.

West is one of three people who were tried and convicted in the November 2008 death of 29-year-old Jeremy Moore during a robbery in northwest Oklahoma City. Prosecutors say the robbers got away with nearly $43 in food and soft drinks.

Moore was shot to death outside an apartment complex while making what investigators say turned out to be a bogus pizza delivery call.

Police say they traced the call for the pizza to West's house but that West told investigators a co-defendant actually made the call.
