Fire at Tulsa Retirement Center

A Saturday evening fire in Tulsa caused damage to several apartment units at the Tulsa Retirement Center. The home is located near Highway 169 and 31st Street.

A news release from the Tulsa Fire Department indicated the blaze may have been a result of smoking in a room where oxygen was in use.  An estimated 60 residents, some in wheelchairs, had to be evacuated from the building. A man and a woman suffer burns in the fire and had to be transported to the Hillcrest Hospital Burn Unit. There is no word on their condition.

One apartment unit was destroyed and two other sustained smoke damage.
