Tulsa officials suspect lightning in house fire

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities are investigating whether a lightning strike caused a house fire in east Tulsa early Monday morning.

The fire happened at about 1:45 a.m. It wasn't clear whether anyone was inside the house at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported.

Tulsa firefighters say power lines had been ripped from the home — possibly from an explosion caused by a lightning strike.

Severe weather knocked out electricity to thousands of customers in the Tulsa area on Monday. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for parts of northeastern Oklahoma on Monday as the storms dumped up to 6 inches of rain in some areas.
