A huge crowd, estimated to be several thousand, turnout for an open casting call for a major Hollywood movie to be filmed in Oklahoma. The movie is based on the play ‘August: Osage County’.

People lined from a vacant business, along a hallway, down the staircase to the parking lot and then outside, in an intermittent rain, for half the length of the Promenade Mall.

These are non-speaking parts in the movie, which starts filming in Washington and Osage Counties next month. People were asked supply contact information, clothing and shoe sizes and pose for a photograph. People selected for extra parts will be notified 24-to-72-hours before they are needed to report to the set.

It is the story of a dysfunctional Pawhuska family and their struggle after the alcoholic patriarch disappears. Academy Award winners Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts have the female leads in the movie. The script was written by Tulsa native Tracy Letts for Broadway. He is also responsible for the screen play.
