Officials say the plane in route to Tulsa from Houston that crashed was owned by a Broken Arrow firm.

The Cessna 421- twin engine plane was registered to HS-Air of Broken Arrow.

The Texas Department of Public Safety  says 64-year-old John Steeper of Broken Arrow was killed in the crash.

While the plane would seat six and a crew of two, Steeper was apparently the only one on board.

Searchers located the wreckage Monday night near Wells, about 140 miles northeast of Houston.

The FAA says the plane was en route from West Houston Airport to Tulsa Riverside Airport when controllers lost contact with the aircraft around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Officials believe the pilot was trying to avoid bad weather near Cherokee County when the plane went off radar.
