Bartlett Announces Re-election Campaign

KWGS News

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett will seek a second term in office.

He formally announced his plan to run again for mayor Monday afternoon at the newly constructed New American Bank & Trust building at 61st and Yale.

"I hear one resounding theme over and over again: things have definitely turned around in Tulsa, Oklahoma," Bartlett said.

He said Tulsa should stay what he called a positive course begun under his administration.

So far he's facing two challengers: former City Councilor Bill Christiansen, also a Republican, and former Mayor Kathy Taylor, a Democrat.

This will be Tulsa's first non-partisan mayoral election, which means if any candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote in June, then that candidate wins the office, and there will be no runoff or election in November.
