TALIHINA, Okla. (AP) — Wichita, Kansas-based EagleMed LLC has resumed medical helicopter flights from McAlester Regional Health Center following a deadly crash of one of its helicopter taking off from the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina.
EagleMed officials say a medical helicopter was based at the McAlester center on Thursday.
Forty-nine-year-old Michael David Wilson of Bethel died following the June 11th crash that seriously injured the flight nurse and caused minor injuries to a paramedic and the pilot. The pilot told investigators that the aircraft crashed after its rotor blade struck a metal light pole.
EagleMed President Larry Bugg told The Oklahoman that the crash was devastating — but that the flights are needed for patients in the area.
