OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A bipartisan group of legislators and other community activists are seeking an end to the United States' involvement in the conflict in Syria and are planning a rally at the Oklahoma Capitol.

Moore Republican Rep. Paul Wesselhoft joined with several other activists Wednesday to denounce the nation's growing involvement in the Syrian conflict. Wesselhoft served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army and said any U.S. involvement in arming opposition rebels in Syria is a "grave error."

Wesselhoft is helping organize a nonpartisan "Syria: Not Our War" rally at the state Capitol Friday.

Others who plan to speak at the rally include Nathanial Batchelder, the director of the Peace House, and Steve Byas, the publisher of the conservative newspaper the Oklahoma Constitution.
