Commission Approves U.S. 60 Project in Osage County

ODOT

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission has approved several road construction contracts, including a nearly $38 million plan to improve parts of U.S. 60 near Pawhuska.

During its monthly meeting Monday, the commission awarded a contract to Sherwood Construction Co. Inc. to improve a nearly six-mile stretch of U.S. 60. The project is expected to take about 590 days to complete.

But Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Mike Patterson says future work and even existing contracts may be jeopardized because of an uncertainty in federal funding.

Patterson says the agency will do everything in its power to continue existing projects. He says agency staff will spend the next several weeks studying how to handle projects as the state enters 2014.
