Oklahoma's Heartland Flyer Could be in Jeopardy

At a time when the state is looking for 611-million dollars just to break even, Amtrak wants over one-million dollars more to keep the Heartland Flyer rolling. The service between Oklahoma City and Fort Worth could be eliminated or trimmed back. Passenger Rail Oklahoma’s Evan Stair has another idea; allow other companies to bid on operating the service.

   

Such a measure, unbundling the service, is currently working its way through the legislature.
