"Let There Be (Neon) Light!"

Steve Clem-KWGS

Sherry Cooper, owner of Billy Ray’s Barbeque and Catfish, stands under her relit neon sign. A lights-on celebration was held at the west side restaurant last night along Southwest Boulevard.

Cooper’s business is the first recipient of a grant designed to help get more neon along Tulsa’s Route 66. The sign had been dark for about 15-years.

It took just over $2,600 for the retro fit. The money comes from a Vision Tax package item to bring neon back along Route 66.

Other projects are planned along the famed highway.
