TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a person was killed when he or she attempted to run across Oklahoma Highway 51 in Tulsa County early Friday morning.

Authorities say the victim — who hasn't been identified — tried to run across the four-lane highway at about 5:40 a.m. Friday. The pedestrian was hit by a car driven by a 26-year-old woman from Mannford.

Authorities say the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian.

The highway patrol says the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering injuries to the head, chest, arms and legs.
