Oklahoma agencies could get more than $11 million from grants the U.S. Justice Department is offering state, municipal and tribal public safety agencies across the country money to help respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
The money can only be used to pay for agencies’ response to the coronavirus.
Overtime pay for police and medical personnel, masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and medical care for prisoners are examples of allowed expenses.
Agencies can even use the money to make up for past coronavirus expenses dating back to late January.
The federal government is asking agencies to apply for the grants immediately and they’re hoping to send the money within days of the application approvals.
The City of Tulsa is eligible for nearly $1.1 million, and Tulsa County is in line for $72,414.
