Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Zoo celebrates the 21st year of its inimitable
fundraiser, WALTZ on the Wild Side June 17, 2011. Though in its 21st year this is the
first WALTZ for Tulsa Zoo Management, Inc., the non-profit now managing the zoo
after the formation of a new public-private partnership with the City of Tulsa. This
year's WALTZ marks the beginning of an exciting new era for the Tulsa Zoo as well
as highlighting the importance of community support for the zoo's future.
Over 20 years, millions of dollars raised and 14 exhibits later, it's a time to
celebrate the successes and contributions that have made this zoo great, and
at the same time to undertake new projects with ferocity. Generous funds raised
from these exceptional evenings have provided the Tulsa Zoo with amazing
exhibits, such as Chimpanzee Connection, Elephant Demonstration Yard and, of
course, the South African Penguin Exhibit. The 21st annual WALTZ will kick off
fundraising for the next big project at the Tulsa Zoo - a new naturalistic Asian Cat
Exhibit, featuring the zoo's beautiful Snow Leopards and Malayan Tigers.
Capture the moment, celebrate the past and usher in the future at the 2011
WALTZ on the Wild Side Friday, June 17, 2011 7:00 PM to Midnight. Individual
tickets starting at $125 Tulsa Zoo Friend Members, $150 for not-yet-members, with
sponsorships starting at $1,000. Tickets are available online this year, so visit
www.tulsazoo.org or call 918-669-6608 and reserve your place in Tulsa Zoo history.
