Wewoka, OK – Mental exam for man charged in deputies' deaths
WEWOKA, Okla. (AP) A psychiatric evaluation is being ordered for the man charged with first-degree murder of two Seminole County sheriff's deputies.
A Seminole County judge on Wednesday approved the request by defense attorneys to send 26-year-old Ezekiel Holbert to the Oklahoma Forensic Center in Vinita. The evaluation is to determine if he's competent to assist in his defense.
Holbert is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the July 26 shooting deaths of deputies Chase Whitebird and Marvin Williams. Prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty.
The deputies had gone to a home in Seminole to arrest Holbert.
