“Locust Grove School officials were informed by the Mayes County Health Department on Friday that a kindergarten student has been confirmed to have bacterial meningitis. School officials were also in contact with the state epidemiologist. The state epidemiologist has advised us that only those in “prolonged close proximity” are at risk. In conversation with the student’s teacher, the health officials determined only 3 students at the Locust Grove Early Learning Center should be receive preventative treatment, although even these are considered low risk. All students’ parents in the class were contacted to make them aware of the situation.”
