As the new recycling and trash pick-up system gains traction, the City of Tulsa will offer three months of free green waste pick-up.
November, December and January, customers will be able to leave yard waste for trash pick-up without purchasing “Green Waste” stickers.
The City of Tulsa’s Liz Hunt says, just be sure to put it in a clear garbage bag.
“I don’t want customers to get frustrated if it’s not collected, if it’s in the dark black or a dark brown bag, because the hauler is not able to open up those bags to discern the contents,” she said. “They don’t want to contaminate the load of organic material.”
The City is asking residents to place their green waste on the curb, even if you have backyard pick-up service.
Sticks and branches may be tied in four-by-two-foot bundles without a sack. Place bundles and garbage bags out on your normal trash pick-up day.
Green Waste stickers, which go on each bag or bundle to be picked up, will usually cost 50 cents.
