The Tulsa Area Salvation Army is in need of donations of frozen turkeys and pre-baked pies for this year’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Nov. 22 at the Center of Hope, 102 North Denver.
With zero turkeys and less than two weeks until the big day, The Salvation Army is seeking 80 frozen turkeys and 80 pre-baked pies for the annual dinner. They are needed by Monday, Nov. 12.
“We will serve over 1,000 people that day,” said Major James Taylor, Metro Tulsa Area Command. “Many are families who without this meal will have no holiday dinner.”
Many of those served on Thanksgiving will also be among those helped during the upcoming holidays by The Salvation Army.
“Looking into an empty freezer right now is a scary thing and we understand that the economy is challenging,” Major Taylor said, “but we are hopeful that the generosity and compassion of our community will see us through the season.”
The public can make food donations at the Center of Hope, 102 North Denver, 24-hours a day.
