Lawyers: Settlement in 'Precious Doe' Lawsuit

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Attorneys for a man whose daughter was killed in Missouri say he's reached a settlement in a lawsuit against Oklahoma agencies in connection with her death.

Larry Green sued in 2010, five years after a beheaded body found in Kansas City was identified as his daughter, Erica. The body went unidentified for years and became known as "Precious Doe."

Erica was born while her mother and Green were in prison. She was placed with a family friend.

Her mother regained custody after being released. Authorities say the mother's boyfriend killed Erica, leaving her body in a wooded area.

Green's attorneys said Thursday their settlement calls for the state to develop procedures to ensure inmates' infants are referred to the Department of Human Services for placement in a safe home.
