Model of Tulsa's New Park to Go on Display

KWGS News File Photo

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A scaled model showing the features included in Tulsa's newest park along the Arkansas River is going on public display.

The model of the 50-acre park — called "A Gathering Place for Tulsa" — will be on display downtown at the Arts & Humanities Council through Sept. 27.

Funding for the project was led by the George Kaiser Family Foundation, which committed $50 million with the purchase of 55 acres of land near to River Parks and a midtown pedestrian bridge.

Kaiser is a lifelong Tulsan and one of the wealthiest people in the U.S. He's chairman of BOK Financial Corp. and a major shareholder in various energy and technology companies.

During several public and neighborhood meetings, more than 1,300 comments were recorded and used by architects planning the park.
