A negligence lawsuit is filed against a half-way house operating in Turley. The suit alleges female inmates were routinely groped and sexual harassed.
The lawsuit was filed against the Avalon Correctional Services, which is based in Oklahoma City, and operates the Turley Residential Center. The facility was once an orphanage, known as the Turley Children’s Home.
Attorney J. Spencer Bryan tells the Tulsa World that at least 20 women have made similar allegations. Bryan says the abuses involved an employee in the food services industry.
Avalon President Brian Costello declined comment on specific allegations because he had not seen the lawsuit.
