The Saga of 'Baby Veronica' Not Over After All

KWGS News File Photo

The winning couple in the tug-of-war over an Oklahoma pre-schooler is headed back to court. Matt and Melanie Copobianco are seeking over $1-million from the biological father, Dusten Brown, and the Cherokee Nation.

The are asking for the money to pay for legal expenses incurred in the battle for 'Veronica'. The girl was born in Oklahoma and the biological mother gave her up for adoption, apparently not notifying the father. He sued to get the girl. The Capobiancos then counter sued all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

When Dusten Brown surrendered the girl to the Capobiancos, he dropped all of his legal challenges. The Cherokee Nation was named in the lawsuit because it aided Brown in his fight to keep Veronica in Oklahoma
