Lawmakers Hear Tulsa-to-OKC Passenger Train Proposal

KWGS News File Photo

At the State Capitol, members of the House Committee on Transportation hear a proposal on linking passenger rail service between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The train would operate on a state owned line and be managed by the Iowa Pacific Railway.

Under the plan, there would be eight trains a day between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. One glitch; the Department of Transportation has the line between Sapulpa and OKC up for sale.

Railway enthusiasts want the legislature to block such a sale. The testimony today came during a House Interim Committee Study.
