Playing on Ice, 6-Year-Old Dies in Tulsa

Google Street-View

A six year-old boy is dead after being pulled from the icy waters of Joe Creek in south Tulsa.  The boy  and his 12-year-old brother were playing on the frozen water when the ice gave way and they both fell into to the water.

The 12-year-old managed to get himself from the waist deep water, but the six-year-old became trapped under the ice. He had been there for about 30-minutes with police, fire and EMSA got him from the icy water. At that time, he was still alive but unresponsive. He was rushed to an ambulance and taken to hospital where he later died.

Officials are urging parents to warn children of the dangers of venturing out on what appears to be solid ice.
