BRAGGS, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma National Guard is breaking ground on a $24 million housing and dining facility at Camp Gruber in northeast Oklahoma.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the 128,000-square-foot facility will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Camp Gruber Training Center, just north of Braggs in Muskogee County.
Dubbed the Operational Readiness Training Complex, the new facility will house officer and enlisted barracks, as well as a dining facility and storage areas. Construction is expected to begin this month and be completed by January 2016. It will increase Camp Gruber's bed space to more than 3,000, an increase of about 20 percent.
Camp Gruber is the Oklahoma National Guard's primary training facility, and also is used by law enforcement, first responders and other military divisions.
