Catholic Hospital Clamps Down on Contraception Prescriptions

Oklahoma still has the 2nd  highest teen pregnancy rate in the nation. The start of Teen-Pregnancy Prevention Month comes at the same time a new memo from Catholic St-John’s Hospital in Tulsa comes to light.

The Tulsa World reports the memo tells doctor’s not to prescribe birth control on prescription pads with the hospitals name or logo.  The same rule applied electronic prescription.

The Tulsa campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy Director Kim Schutz says this is the wrong message.

KIM SCHUTZ: "I think limiting access to contraception to an adult or teenager is the wrong thing to do. We don't need to be headed back into the dark ages."

Schutz says Oklahoma needs more comprehensive education to address the teen pregnancy problem. She says that education should include boys as well as the girls.
