There’s a formal agreement between Tulsa Community College and Rogers State University to transfer credits in 10 programs.
Faculty and staff at both institutions worked to match up curricula so credits earned at TCC count toward a bachelor’s degree in the same program at RSU. RSU President Larry Rice said the schools already had a good working relationship.
"This kind of puts pen to paper that a student who takes courses at TCC under these initial 10 programs will transfer seamlessly," Rice said. "The student will not waste any time or money, so it's value added."
The covered programs from TCC to RSU are Accounting to Business Administration, accounting option; Biology to Biology, medical and molecular option; Business Administration to Sport Management, sport business option; Health and Human Performance to Sport Management, fitness management option; Environmental Science to Biology, environmental conservation option; History to Social Science, history option; Nutritional Science to Sport Management, fitness management option; Political Science to Social Science, political science option; Pre-Professional Science (Veterinary Medicine) to Biology, medical and molecular option; and Pre-Professional Science (Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Optometry) to Biology, medical and molecular option.
TCC President Leigh Goodson says another 10 programs will be announced soon, and she wants to do this with more four-year schools.
"It is a huge leap in the right direction, and we're very excited to have these 20 transfer agreements in place," Goodson said. "We have 10 already completed. We have 10 more that will be completed in just the next couple of months."
Students qualifying for the Tulsa Achieves program could potentially complete half their bachelor’s degree work for free if they enroll in one of the covered programs.
