The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality is offering free bacterial testing of private well water for Oklahomans whose wells have been flooded.
If your private well has been submerged in flood water, DEQ recommends that you not drink the water from your well until the flood waters recede and you have safe sample results from DEQ.
Before you sample, DEQ recommends that you disinfect your well and then call DEQ at 1-800-522-0206 for sampling instructions and supplies. The free testing will be available until August 15, 2015.
