OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Attorneys for Oklahoma death row inmate Richard Glossip say they plan to file a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to halt his execution.
Glossip attorney Mark Henricksen said he expects to file a petition with the nation's highest court following Monday's narrow ruling by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals rejecting Glossip's request for a new hearing.
Glossip has maintained his innocence and his attorneys have presented evidence they say suggests a co-defendant in the case, Justin Sneed, acted alone.
Henricksen says he wants a further review of the case.
Glossip is scheduled to be executed Wednesday. Prosecutors say he arranged the beating death of motel owner Barry Van Treese in 1997.
