The Public Service Company of Oklahoma is having to replace about 25,000 newly installed Smart Meters.
PSO's Stan Whiteford says the utility has been told of a defect in the meters that were shipped to Tulsa.
The defect causes the screen to go blank. Whiteford says it is not a safety or operational issue. Letters are being sent to customers receiving a new high tech replacement meter. The hope is to have the meters changed by the end of next month.
The meters allow customers to track their utility usage in real time.
