Potholes Are Costly

KWGS News File Photo

A study conducted by AAA finds that potholes on roads are costing American drivers $3 billion in vehicle damage every year.

Floods, ice and other weather conditions contribute to the deterioration of roads leading to potholes.

Some pothole-related damage is due to drivers swerving to avoid them, or driving over them too quickly.

Congress increased transportation funding last year to help address this issue. The AAA report estimates that an additional $170 billion every year would be needed to significantly improve roads.
