New Clues in Bixby Hazing/Rape Investigation

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation continues its review of an alleged hazing incident in Bixby. That event may have led to the rape by instrumentation of one of the town’s high school football players.

A new affidavit sheds some new light on the incident. It apparently took place on Sept. 27, during Bixby Homecoming Week.

The OSBI wants to see cell phone, landline phone and email records that pertain to the cause. That request also included the emails of Bixby Public Schools Superintendent Kyle Wood and the high school football coach.

Investigators say high school officials failed to promptly report the sexual assault of a 16-year-old football player by several of his teammates during an event at the superintendent's house.

The affidavit filed Monday in district court says Bixby High School administrators delayed reporting the September attack "for days." Failing to promptly report sexual assaults on minors is a misdemeanor in Oklahoma.

The boy told detectives that a teammate assaulted him with a pool stick while three others held him down at Wood's home. Investigators say a fifth player recorded the assault on a cellphone, and another blocked a door.

Wood and the Bixby Police Department declined comment Tuesday. They referred calls to OSBI.
