Muskogee Residents Sign-Up to Fight Highway 69 Relocation

ODOT

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is getting push-back on its proposal to relocate Highway 69 to the west of Muskogee. Muskogee resident Gerald Miller says the proposed route would cripple businesses along the current highway and depress property values.

He has started a website called “Stop-Odot.org”. He says a couple of thousand people have already signed a petition there voicing displeasure with the proposed route.

ODOT says it wants to move the highway to ease congestion in Muskogee and reduce accidents. Miller says the new route would save about two-minutes and accidents are not a major problem on the roadway right now.
