NAACP Wants More Tulsa Police Transparency

Matt Trotter
/
KWGS

Community activists and the NAACP want action in the Tulsa Police Department. They have sent a letter to Mayor Bynum and City Councilors calling for more transparency in the department.

The letter was co-signed by 50 north Tulsa community activists. Many are associated with the fatal shooting of Terence Crutcher. He was an unarmed Black man killed by a White Tulsa Police officer. The officer was charged with manslaughter, but was acquitted.

The letter cites a report showing Blacks are arrested at twice the rate as whites.
