City Gets Grant To Remediate Air Force Plant # 3

City of Tulsa Animal Shelter

The federal government presents Tulsa a check for a half-million dollars. The EPA grant is to be used to remove the asbestos from Air Force Plant Number 3 at the Tulsa International Airport.

Interim EPA regional administrator David Gray presented the check this morning to Mayor Bynum at Tulsa’s City Hall.

Air Force Plant Number 3 was built at the opening of World War II and built planes for the war effort. Later, it was involved in the space program.

The mile-long building is currently the home of Spirit Aerosystems and the Navistar bus plant.
