O'Rourke Tours Tulsa's Black Wall Street

KWGS News

Democratic Presidential contender Beto O’Rourke takes a walking tour of Tulsa historic Black Wall Street. The Democrat met with north side civic leaders to learn about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

He told the group that his native El Paso had a similar history with the Ku Klux Klan. He says in the early 1920s, the Klan took over control of most of El Paso’s government and schools. He said the Klan was deeply jealous of any successful Black enterprise.

Following a sit-down discussion, he then went on a walking tour of the district and told of the businesses destroyed along Greenwood.

From Tulsa, he traveled to Oklahoma City.
