Flooding Closes Tulsa Port

KWGS News File photo

Two-Million dollars a day! That is the estimated economic impact of closing the Tulsa-Port of Catoosa and the navigation channel from Tulsa to the Mississippi River.

Port Director David Yarbrough says it will be a while before shipping will resume. He expects it will t least be another 30-days before barge traffic can safely travel on the waterway.

You can do the math! That’s over $60-million. The closing will force more trucks onto our roads. One barge can handle the load of 60 semis.
