Pollard said Oklahoma ranks 3rd in the nation for production of wind energy

Elizabeth Pollard, Oklahoma Secretary of Science and Innovation, testified before a Congress subcommittee on June 9th.

Pollard spoke to the Subcommittee on Research and Technology about the benefits of federal investment in Oklahoma.

"As a largely rural and agricultural state, Oklahoma is uniquely positioned to capture the benefits of animal science insights as a tool to improve human health and prevent the spread of diseases to humans," said Pollard.

Along with biotechnology, Pollard said Oklahoma is also focused on the aerospace industry and energy diversification.

Pollard made seven suggestions to the subcommittee, including the building of a federally funded research lab and the establishment of a special office to promote collaboration.

President Biden’s proposed 2022 budget includes about $171 billion dollars for federal research and development funding. That’s a 9% increase from 2021.
